Dr Carsten Schröder

Dr Carsten S. Schröder has almost 20 years of professional experience in the field of innovation, research, science and technology. He acts at the interface of science and business – organizing know-how/technology-transfer between research institutes and industry.

Carsten is a successful business angel. He is the founder and General Manager of Laurus Capital GmbH, a Venture Capital firm based out of Berlin, Germany, founded in 2015. Laurus Capital focuses on early stage investments in start-up companies in the fields of production technology, food and beverage, energy, building and construction.

Carsten has been member of the Supervisory Board of Endeavour Sustainable Investment AG in Munich, Germany, from 2012 up to 2014 and now is a member of our Board of Directors.

Carsten is also the Foundation Managing Director of Acatech – National Academy of Science and Engineering. He led the first national Academy in Germany – founded in 2002 – for more than 9 years and created the most prestigious platform for innovation-oriented know-how transfer between science and business. This top-level network with outstanding scientists and representatives of German DAX-Companies offers independent advice on future technology issues based on the best available scientific knowledge to policy makers – such as the german government – and the public. The special focus is on the areas of energy and resources, mobility, communication technology, health technology, biotechnology and education.

Since 2003 he has held also the position as Foundation treasurer of the development council of Acatech, where he was responsible for the funding of the academy. In that context he was named as representative of the Supervisory Board of Acatech tasked with establishing a foundation in 2010.

Carsten started his scientific career after his studies of industrial engineering at the Technical University of Berlin as a research associate at the Fraunhofer-Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology (IPK) in Berlin where he published future studies in the context of the development of Germany as a manufacturing and technology base and carried out market analyses for machinery and vehicle construction.

Carsten is an author and speaker on the subjects of technology and innovation management. He holds a doctorate of engineering, earned at the Department of Machine Tools and Factory Management of the Technical University of Berlin.
